Good Day: A Modern Chaise Lounge Chair

Inspired by the collaboration of two artists in a music studio, Cameron Smith envisioned a design that would capture the essence of their contrasting styles. The result is the Good Day lounge chair, a low-lying piece that exudes sophistication and comfort.

The standout feature of the Good Day lounge chair is its thin floating seat, suspended under a crossbar attached to heavier structural legs. This design choice creates a visual play between lightness and groundedness, giving the chair a unique and captivating aesthetic.

What sets the Good Day lounge chair apart from others is its construction. The seat and legs are made of sand cast aluminum, providing durability and a sleek appearance. The leather pads, which add comfort and style, are formed without any stitching or seams, resulting in a clean and seamless look.

Functionality is also a key aspect of the Good Day lounge chair. The leather pads are removable, allowing for easy cleaning and maintenance. This feature also provides the opportunity to change the look of the chair by using alternate leather colors or materials. The pads are held in place by magnets embedded in the aluminum frame and pads, ensuring a secure fit.

Measuring 635 mm wide, 1600 mm deep, and 830 mm tall, the Good Day lounge chair is designed to provide maximum comfort and relaxation. Its ergonomic model allows for adjustment of the seat, leg, back, and lumbar angles, ensuring a personalized experience for each user.

The Good Day lounge chair was first sketched in February 2020 in a recording studio in Seattle, Washington, USA. The prototype was completed in September 2021, after overcoming various creative, technical, and research challenges.

Recognized for its exceptional design, the Good Day lounge chair was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
